Giclee is French,, meaning"to spray". Fine artists and art buyers know that gliclee prints ensure quality.

Many traditional artists and digital artists never had the opportunity to create something the world would consider "fine art." We at SpeedProDFW are the intersection of art and technology where large-format printers, photography and digital art join.

Giclee refers to museum-quality fine art prints produced using continuous-tone inkjet printers on media such as watercolor paper and canvas. Giclee prints compete directly with serigraphs. Digital artwork can be output directly to the our special large-format printer while conventionally created artwork must be scanned first. The result is true museum-quality art printed any size and quantity economically.

All About Expert Giclee Printing:

Our fine art Giclee process mixes 7 colors (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow Black, Black, Light Black, Light Magenta and Light Cyan) to create true art gallery quality prints.

Speedpro Imaging DFW can print on 44" canvas, archival paper, or Mat Archival Bond Paper. This is far better quality than a standard Poster. It is rated not to discolor for over 25 years under normal conditions.

Furthermore, our inks are not water based, like many others, so geting your giclee print wet will not hurt it.

Our Watercolor Giclee Prints are printed on Archival Somerset Velvet paper. The paper has a slight texture to it, and picks up very sharp and fine details. We guaranteee these prints' color accuracy for over 50 years under normal conditions.

Canvas Giclee Prints are printed on fine Archival Cotton Canvas. The canvas is very vibrant, and should be framed without glass. The Canvas is rated not to discolor for 75 years under normal conditions.

How is it done? Giclee means "to spray." The original art is created digitally or converted into digital form either by photography, scanning or new high end digital photography. Moreover, digital files are the only archives of art that do not deteriorate and promise to last forever.

What about Giclee: The component responsible for spraying ink? First, one must insert an "7 color ink set" into the printer that includes cyan, light cyan, magenta, light magenta, yellow, light black and black colors. Ordinary ink remains stable [colorfast] for 5 to 7 years. The inks we use are stable for over 75 years! Seven print heads, mix and spray ink under rigid computer control. The computer gets its marching orders from a specific digital file. The nozzles spray 4 million droplets of ink per second on paper or canvas -- each one smaller than a human red blood cell.

Incredibly accurate color renditions of hue, value and density are rendered by our printer. In technical terms, Giclee produces a range of 7 million colors - broader than a serigraph with better resolution than color lithography. In short, true continuous tones.
